So I had a run with 5 puppies all under weight ribs showing and precious and sweet. All went well with the switch over to my car. Now I had my mom’s car as mine has a noise that has me spooked but mom’s car is an Impala so there was more room anyway so it was a good choice. They drank before we go and one pee’d and a few had treats. The ride was nice as they always are to clear my head and talk to the puppies as they sleep, very therapeutic. I find my way to my destination and went to open the passengers side car and it was locked so I went back to the driver’s side and it was locked as well. OH MY GOD! I had no idea my mom’s car locked automatically and the keys were inside with the puppies. I freaked. Thank goodness the woman who I was dropping off at had a husband/boyfriend that started to get into car. I kept an eye on the time and was crying and feeling horrible. I am the one that always says is someone leaves their animal in a hot car I would break the glass. This accident sent me into panic mode thank God the others there were calm so I could be crazy. The law was called and from beginning to end the puppies were in the car for 20 minutes. They didn’t start panting until ten minutes in as I had it pretty cold in there so they would not over heat. The officer came and how grateful I was he was able to get mom’s door open and we got the dog’s out quickly. One or two of the black dogs puked which was the only major thing that happened. We got them all out and the gals took them to the back yard got them water and all was right with the world once again. I cleaned up puke then joined them in the back yard. Michelle was so understanding that it was an accident. I just couldn’t believe it I was horrified. I do not know how people can intentionally leave their fur-babies in a car on a hot day. Thank goodness it was not terribly hot but that doesn’t matter inside a car gets hot and quick. Learned quick know the car you are in and take the keys out always. I couldn’t blog about this yesterday until I spoke to the coordinator to let her hear it from me first. She was very understanding. I have probably beat myself up more than anyone else but lesson learned.
Love to all…
